MODEL : HP12 / HP16
Operation and Maintenance Instructions :
Polyhydron make Hand Pumps are reliable hence require very little attention from user.
However it is necessary that following points must be kept in mind while storage,
assembly, commissioning and maintenance.
Storage :
It is necessary that during storage the Pump must be well lubricated and properly
covered. This will prevent ingress of dirt/dust in the working mechanism and during
commissioning it will be easy to install the same.
Operation :
Hand Pumps are designed to cater heavy duty applications such as small presses,
clamping fixtures, punching, notching, bending machines etc. The peculiarity is its
unitised construction, to facilitate easy maintenance.
The pump consists of an oil tank, a collapsible handle assembly, suction valve assembly,
delivery valve assembly, relief valve assembly, and release valve assembly. The oil tank
at its rear end is provided with a breather plug.
During suction stroke(lever is in lifted position) the pump sucks the oil from the tank
through suction valve and during pressing strokes (lever is in horizontal position) the
pump delivers the oil through delivery valve to the system.
The built in relief valve connected to the pumping chamber prevents the pump from getting
overloaded by inadvertent pumping action.
Commissioning :
During commissioning, the pumps do not need major attention, however following points
must be kept in mind.
For initial fill of the oil the breather plug must be removed and tank must be filled with
fresh oil. The pump requires about 1.3 ltr of oil. During this operation the release valve
is kept open by rotating it in anticlockwise direction and the handle of the pump is
operated for couple of times.
Close the Release valve and connect the flexible hose to the pump outlet, insert the other
end of the hose in the oil filling port and operate the handle.
Close the filler port by tightening the breather plug into it and the pump is ready for
operation.
Maintenance :
The Hand pumps do not need any major attention, however it is necessary to keep following
points in mind.
The oil must be of prime quality and clean as per ISO 16/13 and must be changed
periodically. Contaminated oil may lead to the wear of the piston and housing thereby
increasing the clearance This results in improper working of the valve.
The working temperature should be in the range of 20 to +70 degree Celsius.
